On Wednesday, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea filed by former Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh seeking a CBI probe into allegations of corrupt malpractices against the Home Minister of Maharashtra state, Anil Deshmukh. The Court directed the petitioner to move the High Court in this regard.
The Bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul observed that the allegations made against the state Minister are very serious and reprimanded the petitioners for not making the Minister a party to this petition. The petitioner, Param Bir Singh, was dismissed from service on account of the Antilia bomb scare incident in Mumbai and pleaded that he was made a 'scapegoat divert attention from the actual wrongdoers.'
